Warm weather gives you a bit of encouragement to get outside more. Atlanta has plenty of things to do, but if you're looking for something different, a 5K is a great option. Many people think that you HAVE to run, but that isn't true at all! Most 5K'S welcome walkers, kids, and sometimes even pups. Here are some of the best events for you to consider this spring and summer:
Atlanta BeltLine Northside 5K - April 6, 2019
This 9th annual race is a great way to explore the newly developed Atlanta BeltLine. The 5K welcomes runners, walkers, strollers, and dogs! For registration, click here.
The Color Run - April 7, 2019
The Color Run, also known as, The Happiest 5K on the Planet, is hosted at Six Flags Over Georgia. Runners wear white at the starting line and finish the race plastered in color. The race concludes with a Finish Festival where you can enjoy music, photo ops, and various activities. Register here.
Virginia-Highland Summerfest 5K - June 1, 2019
Summerfest is an annual festival in the Atlanta neighborhood, Virginia-Highland. The festival celebrates the beginning of summer with local arts and crafts, great food, live music, and much more. With the festival comes the annual Summerfest 5K, where you can spend your morning winding through the beautiful neighborhood streets of Virginia-Highland and conclude the race attending the festival. Hotlanta Half Marathon & 5K - June 9, 2019
The Hotlanta Half Marathon and 5K tradition continues at kicks off at Atlanta's Pemberton Place - World of Coca-Cola, winding runners through the streets and views of the city along the Beltline. Piedmont Park Classic 5K - June 22, 2019

These events provide a fun way to get your exercise in and spend time outdoors. When participating in these events, remember to practice pedestrian safety. Most of the time, the race roads are closed to through traffic, but sometimes you are still running or walking near moving vehicles. Stay alert while participating in your event to avoid accidents.
