Things To Know When Driving For Lyft In Atlanta

Updated: Jan 16, 2019

Being a driver for a rideshare app, such as Lyft, is a great way to make some extra money on the side and the best part is that you can make your own schedule, so you are still able to do the things that you enjoy. This article serves the purpose for Lyft drivers specifically regarding other important information that they should know.

  • Lyft only operates in the United States, unlike Uber.

  • When driving for Lyft, your car must meet certain requirements. For example, it must be a certain model, have four doors, and must be in good condition inside and out with working air conditioning and heat, blinkers, headlights, etc.

  • Lyft drivers are required to use the Lyft amp (pictured above) when picking up a passenger because it helps the customer know where their driver is.

  • While Uber Eats exist, Lyft has a special feature that allows riders to request “Taco Mode” which re-directs the driver to the closest Taco Bell. This feature is only available during the hours of 9 PM through 2 AM, cause ya know we all need a taco or two after a late night.

  • You are responsible for tracking all expenses, such as gas, servicing of the vehicle, etc. in order to determine exactly how much you are making.

  • Lyft drivers are able to receive tips directly through the app.

  • Driving more often than the average person means that Lyft drivers are more likely to get into a car accident, especially on the busy Atlanta highways and narrow side streets. If you are in an accident, be sure to consult a law firm for free.
